چکیده

Not all data in practice came from a process with normal distribution. When the process distribution is non-normal or unknown, the commonly used Shewhart control charts are not suitable. In this paper, a new non-parametric CUSUM Mean Chart is proposed to monitor the possible small mean shifts in the process. The sampling properties of the new monitoring statistics are examined and the average run lengths of the proposed chart are examined. Two numerical examples are used to illustrate the proposed chart and compare with the two existing charts, assuming normality and Beta distribution, respectively. The CUSUM Mean Chart showed better detection ability than those two charts in monitoring and detecting small process mean shifts. Copyright © 2010 John Wiley & Sons, Ltd.

A New Model-Free CuSum Procedure for Autocorrelated Processes

We present a new CuSum chart for monitoring shifts in the mean of autocorrelated data. The monitoring statistic is the plain cumulative sum of differences between the observations and the target value, and the control limits are a function of the asymptotic variance constant and target in-control average run length. Our method uses a variety of non-parametric techniques that are popular in the ...

A new adaptive CUSUM control chart for detecting the multivariate process mean

We propose a new multivariate CUSUM control chart, which is based on selfadaption of its reference value according to the information of current process readings, to quickly detect the multivariate process mean shifts. By specifying the minimum magnitude of the process mean shift in terms of its non-centrality parameter, our proposed control chart can achieve an overall performance for detectin...

Optimal Design of a CUSUM Chart for a Mean Shift of Unknown Size

A cumulative sum (CUSUM) control chart is one of the most popular methods used to detect a process mean shift. When one specific size of the mean shift is assumed, the CUSUM chart can be optimally designed in terms of average run length (ARL). In practice, however, the size of the mean shift is usually unknown, and the CUSUM chart can perform poorly when the actual size of the mean shift is sig...

A risk adjusted self-starting Bernoulli CUSUM control chart with dynamic probability control limits

Usually, in monitoring schemes the nominal value of the process parameter is assumed known. However, this assumption is violated owing to costly sampling and lack of data particularly in healthcare systems. On the other hand, applying a fixed control limit for the risk-adjusted Bernoulli chart causes to a variable in-control average run length performance for patient populations with dissimilar...

The Cusum Median Chart for Known and Estimated Parameters

• The usual CUSUM chart for the mean (CUSUM-X̄) is a chart used to quickly detect small to moderate shifts in a process. In presence of outliers, this chart is known to be more robust than other mean-based alternatives like the Shewhart mean chart but it is nevertheless affected by these unusual observations because the mean (X̄) itself is affected by the outliers. An outliers robust alternative ...
